RM of Britannia’s story
The Rural Municipality of Britannia No. 502 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. It lies in west-central Saskatchewan, with the Saskatchewan-Alberta border and Highway 17 to the west and the North Saskatchewan River to the north, and the city of Lloydminster just to the southwest.
Within the municipality are the unincorporated communities of Ashley, Greenstreet, Hewitt Landing, Hillmond, Landrose, Northminster, Rex and Tangleflags.
One of its best-known spots is Sandy Beach Regional Park, founded in 1966 on the southern and eastern shores of Sandybeach Lake, about 19 kilometres north of Lloydminster. The park offers a campground, a nine-hole golf course, a boat launch, a beach area and a ball diamond.
